The president of Iran Hassan Rouhani proposed to create a cryptocurrency, which would be used in Islamic countries as an alternative to the US dollar – investment platform has learned.
At the conference, held in Malaysia, Rouhani told that Islamic countries had to strengthen financial interaction with an aim to resist the “financial hegemony of the United States.” He called US economic sanctions “the main tool for setting its hegemony and bullying of other nations.”
Hassan Rouhani noted that the United States of America (the USA) imposed tough sanctions on Iran, what led to significant increase in gasoline prices and public protests. According to him, in such a way the USA aspired to harm Iran. As a solution of this problem Iranian president offered to involve cryptocurrencies.
“Muslim world must take measures in order to save itself from dominance of US dollar and American financial regime”, – the president stressed.
In addition, Rouhani proposed to create a special fund for financing technological interaction between Muslim countries. Turkish president Recep Erdogan noted that Muslim countries had to finance each other, he offered to make a special working group.
“Sometimes, when we use USD, sanctions may harm our economic development. We can use our own currency or create general one”, – Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad supported the idea.
