The CEO of Apple company Tim Cook has claimed that the IT-giant won`t launch its own cryptocurrency – investment platform has learned.
“I really consider that currency control must remain in government`s hands. I don`t like the idea that some private group may launch a competing currency”, – Cook said in the interview with French newspaper Les Echos.
Recently the vice president of Apple Pay Jennifer Bailey has told while the conversation with CNN that the company is looking closer to the cryptocurrency sector. Although, according to Cook, this interest surely won`t lead to Apple`s digital currency development.
“Currency, as well as national defense, must remain in government`s hands, because it is major task of the authority. We ourselves choose representatives to the parliament so that they fulfill their functions. But the company haven`t been chosen by us, that`s why they shouldn`t move in this direction”, – he said.
In August, it has become known that Apple will restrict users of its credit card in some functions. In such a way, owners of Apple credit card cannot use it to purchase cryptocurrencies, casino games, bookmaker bets and lottery tickets.
