US Federal Marshals Service (USMS), the department of US Justice, has informed that it is going to sell on the auction $37.7 mln BTC. This will be the first cryptocurrency auction since 2018, bitcoindoubler2x.com has found out.
February 18, US Federal Marshals Service will sell on the auction about 4 040 bitcoins valued at approximately $37.7 million at current exchange rate. Potential participants of trades have to register till February 12.
“The auction will be held February 18 within 6 hours. Bids will be accepted by email only from pre-registered bidders.” — it is informed in the post.
In addition, bidders will have to make a deposit in amount of $200 000 before the auction. Participants whose bids do not win the auction will receive the deposit back. Bitcoins will be sold in four lots at 2,500, 1,000, 500 and 40.54069820 BTC. The first three lots are divided into blocks of smaller amounts of bitcoins.
BTC for the auction were received in more than 50 confiscations and court cases. The last time the Federal Marshals Service held auctions for the sale of bitcoins in 2018. Then 660 Bitcoins were sold in October, and also 2 100 and 3 800 BTC in March and January respectively.
